Greenways have many different looks, but they all, ultimately, capture and filter rain or melting snow into the ground, reducing water pollution. Plants, grasses, trees and soils in greenways help naturally clean dirty water as it’s absorbed. They can be placed along bike paths, sidewalks, riverbanks and streets. Greenways are planted with native vegetation or mowed grass or gardens.
